One Person Killed in Commerce Shooting

COMMERCE, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - There was a shooting in Commerce Sunday, leaving one person killed. Police said the shooter was later wounded in a shootout with police.
Commerce police were called to a home on Troy Street. When officers arrived, shots were fired at them.
There was a brief standoff, and the shooter was shot by one of the officers. The man was transported to Grady Hospital.
The names of the shooting victim and the suspect had not been released as of Sunday evening.

Clarkesville declines annexation of county’s property

The Clarkesville City Council voted 4-1, with council member Bobby Webb opposed, Monday not to annex property purchased by Habersham County recently for a new judicial center.
Council member Franklin Brown made the motion not to annex the property, with council member Tina Evans providing the second.
The vote not to annex followed a failed motion by Webb to annex the property, located on Highway 17 (Toccoa Highway) at Hills Crossing Road.
